Art Club Meets on Tuesdays

 

The North Platte High School Art Club meets every Tuesday from 3:20-4:30 pm to work on their art skills.  In addition, it also has several special celebrations throughout the year, such as a Halloween party, Christmas party, and end of the year party.

 

“Students also just use this time to continue working on art projects for class. I also have students drawing out/illustrating their characters for a story that they have created,” Mrs. Garms states. This particular group is a great way for students to gather with like-minded individuals, make new friends, and grow in their creativity.

Calling All Readers! The North Platte High School Book Club meets during seminar on the last Tuesday of each month. The schedule is posted in the library by the door. 

There is a wide range of students who are in book club. Mrs. Wyatt, the sponsor, says, “To try to keep it interesting for everyone, we read many different genres of books. Historical fiction, mysteries, dystopian fiction, realistic fiction, and more!” 

Mrs. Wyatt also commented, “My favorite thing about book club is being able to connect with others who enjoyed a book as much as I did or discuss our thoughts about it.” Anyone is welcome to join Book Club or even just stop by to see if they'd be interested in the book for the month.

High School Choir Performs at Ren Fest Ren FestThe first performance of the North Platte Choirs year started in Bonner Springs at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. The students enjoyed the experience, “It’s fun and we all have a good time. The music that we sing is fun, too,” says Rayleigh Gann, one of the singers in the choir. 

In fact, the choir is a part of the entertainment at the festival so they need to look the part. The students are given time period accurate costumes to wear. Leather shoes, dresses, robes and other Renaissance themed attire. 

The teacher, Mrs. Tollefson, also really loves being able to take her choir to the festival every year, saying, “I am excited for our choir students to experience the Renaissance Era through the music they will be performing as well as the sights and activities of the era.” Written by Zach Beatty NP Student Published 11-20-19
